When you think of New York City, you think of skyscrapers, Wall Street, and Central Park. Only recently is the city becoming known for its stunning waterfront, which is constantly being developed into a space to live and play.
Waterfront neighborhoods are all over New York City, particularly in the boroughs of Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Williamsburg luxury rentals offer a unique opportunity to live in the heart of trendy Brooklyn, right along the water’s edge.
Here are three great ways to enjoy your neighborhood’s happening waterfront as the weather warms:
Play at Domino Park
This brand-new, five-acre public park is a true gem of Williamsburg. It runs a quarter-mile along the East River, behind the landmark Domingo Sugar Refinery, a former factory. The park includes a waterfront esplanade, grassy areas, gardens and trees, and a dog run. The park also has a beautiful designed playground for kids, which is fenced in and faces the waterfront.
Adjacent to the green space is a tasty taco shack that serves up summery Mexican eats and strong Margaritas. Tacocina serves its hand-pressed tortillas on a sunny patio dotted with striped umbrellas.
Sample Food at Smorgasburg
No, it’s not a restaurant – it’s better. Smorgasburg is a weekend food market that features stalls from more than 75 of the area’s best restaurants, bars, and cafes. Expect tacos, oysters, lobster rolls, and plenty of ice cream under tent pop-ups. You’ll definitely want to arrive hungry for this weekly event
Smorgasburg is a spinoff of the Sunday Brooklyn Flea, occupying its same East River State Park space on Saturdays. The park is located less than a mile from our Williamsburg luxury rentals, making it a perfect weekend activity. The market moves to Prospect Park in central Brooklyn on Sundays. The market is open year-round, but only takes place outdoors April. From November to March it moves to an indoor location.
Ride the East River Ferry
The East River Ferry is a fantastic way to enjoy the waterfront – but from the water. The ferry runs daily between Brooklyn and Manhattan, making stops in other boroughs along the way. It costs $2.75 one-way – a steal for a relaxing cruise and a beautiful view. Hop on the ferry at the South Williamsburg terminal next door to Williamsburg luxury rentals at 420 Kent. Hop off in Manhattan for a day of shopping, museum-visiting, or sightseeing. For an extra dollar, bring your bike on board and cycle along Manhattan’s East River Greenway.
Williamsburg luxury rentals bring you as close as you can get to New York City’s bustling waterfront. Complete with outdoor activities, great views, and natural beauty, our East River apartments will have you wishing you moved here sooner.
